Top 10 Best Upcoming Cell Phones

Sure, you want a new phone right now, but carriers and manufacturers have promised some truly spectacular, knock-your-socks-off phones coming to U.S. shelves between now and June. With 4G right around the corner and mobile hardware and software getting better and better, you should take a look at what’s coming down the pike in the next couple of months before you buy.
The first three weeks of the year have seen more than a dozen announcements from top U.S. carriers, and we’re sure to see more at the Mobile World Congress trade show in mid-February. Whether you’re with AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or Verizon Wireless, there’s something exciting on the horizon.
It wasn’t easy keeping it to just 10, but we’ve come up with this list of the most exciting phones that you’ll be able to buy in the coming months. To check out pictures of these handsets,

  10. Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc (AT&T?)
Sony Ericsson’s big comeback could come from this Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" phone with a razor-sharp screen, spectacular camera, and the ability to be manipulated by your TV’s remote control. While the company told us it wants to sell this phone here in the U.S, we’ve put it in last place on this list because Sony Ericsson has a lousy track record of getting its phones picked up by U.S. carriers. If it does appear, the Xperia Arc will most likely show up on AT&T.

Also notable: Sony Ericsson is expected to debut a "PlayStation phone" next month, though we don’t know whether that’s ever coming to the U.S. We should know more when MWC commences on Feb. 13.

  9. HTC 7 Pro (Sprint)
htc thumb Top 10 Best Upcoming Cell Phones 2011
Windows Phone 7 will debut on Sprint very, very soon with this big, sliding-QWERTY-keyboard model. Like many other Windows Phone 7 devices, the 7 Pro has a 1GHz processor and a 5-megapixel camera. The form factor is the selling point here, with a tilting screen that makes it look like a little laptop.

8. LG Revolution (Verizon Wireless) wireless thumb Top 10 Best Upcoming Cell Phones 2011
Verizon debuted four new LTE, Android-based phones at CES this year. The LG Revolution’s key features include 1080p HD video capture and the ability to organize your Android apps into folders, preventing your app tray from getting much too long.

7. Samsung Galaxy S 4G (T-Mobile)

T-Mobile’s Editors’ Choice-winning Samsung Vibrant is getting a faster cousin on February 13 with the introduction of the Galaxy S 4G, which T-Mobile pre-announced on January 20. We don’t know much about the new generation Galaxy S, although we’re hoping T-Mobile’s phone is the same as the dual-core Galaxy S lineup that Samsung is promising.

6. Samsung Infuse 4G (AT&T)
att thumb Top 10 Best Upcoming Cell Phones 2011
Super-thin, with a super-huge, Super AMOLED Plus screen, the Samsung Infuse will give you a truly cinematic Android experience. The 4.5-inch display carries the same 800-by-480 resolution as most other smart phones, but Samsung says Super AMOLED Plus will improve its colors. The Infuse will be one of the first phones to run on AT&T’s fast HSPA+ network.

5. HTC Thunderbolt (Verizon Wireless)
htc3 thumb Top 10 Best Upcoming Cell Phones 2011
HTC is beloved for giving a bit more style and finish to its Android phones than some other manufacturers, and the 4G HTC Thunderbolt comes with the company’s award-winning Sense UI overlay. It also has an 8-megapixel camera and an HD video recorder, which may make this an excellent 4G phone for YouTube devotees.

4. T-Mobile Sidekick 4Gt mobile sidekick lx qwerty phone Top 10 Best Upcoming Cell Phones 2011
The T-Mobile Sidekick is a cult device with an intensely faithful following. After Sidekick-maker Danger was bought by Microsoft, fans thought they’d never see a new model. T-Mobile recently said the Sidekick is coming back as a 4G HSPA+ Android phone, but didn’t give many details. This image seems to hint that it will eschew a swiveling screen for a slider design.

3. Motorola Droid Bionic (Verizon Wireless)
motorola thumb Top 10 Best Upcoming Cell Phones 2011The dual-core, NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor in the Motorola Droid Bionic means this 4G LTE phone will be up to twice as fast as other top smartphones. I’ve seen the Tegra difference when playing games, and it means sharper backgrounds, better shadows, and more enemies to fight. The Droid Bionic may very well be Verizon’s power leader when it launches.

2. Motorola Atrix (AT&T)
atrix thumb Top 10 Best Upcoming Cell Phones 2011The most interesting phone I saw at CES and the one I’m personally waiting most anxiously for, the Motorola Atrix is an Android phone that turns into a Linux-powered, desktop or laptop PC when it’s popped into the appropriate dock. Could this replace a tablet, a netbook, or a home media center? I really want to find out.

1. Apple iPhone 5
apple thumb Top 10 Best Upcoming Cell Phones 2011Sorry folks, we couldn’t ignore the next-gen Jesus phone. Nobody knows anything reliable about the upcoming iPhone, although noisy blog speculation is already in full force. We don’t know if it will be called iPhone 5, iPhone 4G, or something else. But we’re pretty sure it’s coming in June or July—iPhones always do. Surely Apple will have plenty of surprises for us, and it’s likely that a new iPhone will come with industry-leading features. The real question is, with a Verizon iPhone 4 coming in early February—can you wait that long?

YouTube Introduces Movies On Demand Service, Finally!

Life just got better for all YouTube loyalists. After a dull week, rife with updates on how to transfer videos from a slowly dying Google Videos onto an over-worked YouTube, the worst seems to be over.
Pay and Watch!
Pay and Watch!

YouTube has now officially entered the online movie rental space. The service that is all set to launch this week will charge users for streaming mainstream Hollywood movies. YouTube is poised to give the popular iTunes service a stiff competition. iTunes currently is the most popular paid video streaming service, and now with YouTube entering the space with a host of big names backing it; the competitor seems to have toughened overnight.

YouTube, to say, was in plans of launching its own video streaming service since long. But, it was in the process of getting in the biggest names in the market under its hood. YouTube has so far managed to get in studios like Sony Pictures Entertainment, Warner Brothers and Universal, as also independent studios like Lionsgate and Kino Lorber. However, Paramount Pictures, Fox and Disney have not given in their consent to licensing their movies, as yet.

Hollywood, however,  is now optimistic about YouTube’s this move, since its being seen as an excellent revenue generating mode. All the more crucial, since the revenues coming in from the home entertainment sector has been on a steady decline

Google Adds Pagination to Docs

Google launched a new version of their Google document editor exactly a year ago, building a version that took advantage of what modern web browsers offered. Some of the new features that they rolled out was a ruler to make margins, wrap text to wrap around images and discussions for a more collaborative editing experience. Today, they're offering pagination, the ability to see visual pages on a screen. They're also using pagination and some of Chrome's abilities to improve the printing experience for Docs users.

Pagination offers exactly what it sounds like it offers. Google's included page breaks in their docs which fill in as you're editing. Because of this, you can have headers on each page, instead of just the top of the document. You can also make manual page breaks and add footnotes to the bottom of pages. You can hide pagebreaks should you wish to by selecting 'Compact document view' in the View menu.
Virtual Pages
Pagination brings more convenience to the cloud word processor

Pagination allows Google Docs to take advantage of printing capabilities that most modern browsers provide. Previously, Docs had to be converted to PDFs to be printed, however, now, documents can be printed right from Google Docs itself. With native printing abilities, the document you print will look exactly like the document on your screen. Pagination will be rolling out to everyone today and native printing will only be out to Chrome users temporarily but Google's hoping that other browsers implement the same web standard so everyone can enjoy native printing.

Copyright Offender? You May Have To Attend an 'Online Class' by YouTube

So, the next time you’re caught by Google violating copyright norms, you’d be asked to attend ‘YouTube’s Copyright School’ i.e. watch a video in this case. Yes, this is for real. Troubled with increasing, frequent instances of copyright violations, Google has adopted the ‘old school punishment’ way.
Watch out, or watch this!
Watch out, or watch this!

Hosted by a cartoon pirate character, Russell, who’s a frequent offender, the four-and-a-half minute video conducts a multiple choice quiz with the offenders where they’re asked questions pertaining to various aspects of copyright infringement. One of the questions asked being; if music videos and pictures are covered under copyright laws.

Google, has been in the past pulling up offenders for the infringements, and subsequently barring them from accessing their YouTube accounts. They, however, have a second chance now. They could regain their access to their YouTube accounts by attending YouTube’s online class. The new amendments to the site begins with immediate effect.

So, that does make the message ring loud and clear.

White iPhone 4, Here in a Few Weeks

Exactly a month ago, we reported that the white iPhone 4 can be expected 'this spring' according to a tweet by Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, Phil Schiller. Now, a new report says that the white iPhone 4 will be available in a few weeks. In the US, carriers, AT&T and Verizon will start selling the phone by the end of April. The release was stalled for so long because of manufacturing problems Apple was facing. According to a source close to the matter, the paint peeled in the heat.
It's coming closer
It's coming closer

Now, the big caveat with the white iPhone 4 coming out now is that everyone expects the iPhone 5 to come out this June as per tradition. However, sources close to the matter say that Apple's not going to unveil the next iPhone at the developers' conference, instead, they'll most likely unveil iPhone 5 in September. So it seems investing in the white iPhone 4 may not be a total waste if you're really into it. However, would you rather hang on to see if Apple releases a white iPhone 5? Let us know in the comments section below.

Google's Shutting Down Google Video

Google sent out an email to all Google video users saying that the service will no longer be available come May 13th. They said that users who have videos up on Google video will be able to download their videos via a download button that Google will add to the page. On April 29th, videos that are on Google video will not longer be available for playback and users have till May 13th to download their videos. If you don't want to download your video, you, of course, don't have to do anything.
Rest in peace
Rest in peace

Google recommends users upload their videos to YouTube after downloading. For users who have multiple videos up on Google video, they recommend using the paging controls on the bottom right of the screen. To download your video, go to the video status page, and then click on download video on the right side of the video in the action column.

This shut down has been a long time coming, especially since Google bought YouTube in 2006. They stopped uploads to Google video in May 2009 in their attempt to make YouTube profitable. Shutting down Google video just seemed like the obvious next step.

Windows 8 to Have Hybrid Booting and Portable Workspaces

As days pass by, more and more news regarding Microsoft’s next big desktop operating system Windows 8 make their way onto the internet. There have been reports of leaked builds being available for download. A few new features have been unearthed in the process.
Booting to get quicker and Windows to get more portable
Booting to get quicker and Windows to get more portable

Two of more interesting features to be discovered are the Hybrid Boot and Portable Workspaces feature. The Hybrid Boot feature is said to be an evolution of the existing Hibernate feature that allows Windows to shut down into this state so bootup times are reduced dramatically.  The other feature, Portable Workspaces is said to allow users to install Windows into a flash drive that they can carry with them whenever they want. The feature is said to require close to 16GB of space on the flash drive for it to work. The tool should be handy to kickstart broken installations along with being able to carry your OS with you. Clearly, Microsoft has been thinking out of the box with their new OS. Windows 8 is rumoured to launch in late 2012 or early 2013.

Skype Reveals Android Security Risk

Skype said that Android users might be at risk if they've downloaded malicious third party applications. These applications could access the locally stored Skype files on your Android device. These files include cached profile information and instant messages. Skype says they're working on protecting users from this vulnerability including securing file permissions on the Skype for Android application. They advise users to be careful which third party apps they download for their Android device.

Android users, Skype with care
Android users, Skype with care

A month ago, Google pulled 21 malicious apps from the Android Market. After removing those apps, Google installed a kill switch system to remove malicious apps from users who unfortunately downloaded any of those apps. This Skype warning only pertains to Android users who have downloaded malware from the Android App Market or from third party app markets. Users should check their instant messages and change their Skype passwords for sensitive information.

Gmail Takes Personalization to The Next Level

Google, very recently, added a volley of themes in its mail service, Gmail. With the look of the mail pages looking cool with the humongous array of colors and characters, the theme gained instant popularity.

An extension of YOU
Espikes09.blogspot.com

Now, Google hands over the makeover power in your hands! Taking personalization to a new level, Gmail now allows you to make your picture as the theme of your mail account, and have the color co-ordination redone, too.

To begin with, one would have to go to 'mail settings' option made available in the Options tab. Once there, users will have to select the option 'Themes'. Scrolling down that long list, users will find the coveted option of 'creating your own theme'. From there on, users can use their albums in Picasa to create the themes they like, or choose any random picture and use it to customize the main area and the footer of their Gmail pages.

A certain limitation found in this feature was that using one’s photo might not seem such a good idea since that would get sliced as it gets separated in the mail body and footer, probably, a beautiful sunset picture would work best.

Mystery around Last Supper finally solved?

Last Supper 'is commemorated a day late'

Last Supper mystery solved?

A new book by a Cambridge University physicist claims that Jesus Christ's last supper - the final meal that he shared with his 12 Apostles in Jerusalem before his crucifixion - is commemorated a day late.
Prof Colin Humphreys, who was knighted last year for his contribution to science, argues that the last supper Jesus Christ shared occurred on Wednesday, April 1, AD33, rather than on a Thursday as traditionally celebrated in most Christian churches, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.
The theory could explain the apparent inconsistencies between the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke - which say the Last Supper was a Passover meal - and that of John, which says Jesus was tried and executed before the Jewish festival.
It would also explain another puzzle: why the Bible has not allowed enough time for all events recorded between the Last Supper and the Crucifixion.
Colin's book, 'The Mystery of the Last Supper', out this week, uses astronomy to re-create calendars, plus detail drawn from texts such as the Dead Sea Scrolls to propose a timeline for Jesus' final days.
"The claim I make is that we're misinterpreting some parts of the Gospels because we don't understand sufficiently life in the first century AD," he said.
Colin argues that Jesus celebrated Passover early using the pre-exilic calendar, which the Jews used before their exile in Babylon.
It would have been understood by early Christians as operating alongside the official Jewish calendar, he said.
The theory could be controversial as it questioned traditional beliefs but Colin said the key revelation was of tolerance.
"I think Jesus is really reaching out to all sorts of people when he chooses not to use this official Jewish calendar," he added. (ANI)

A day without laughter is a day wasted - Chaplin

Many many happy returns to the King Of Drollery....
Sir Charles Spencer "Charlie" Chaplin....

This is his 122nd birthday.... When he left this world-filled with 'jealous' and 'brutality'.... He left his soul behind...

It is nothing but the 'Humour' or 'Comic', which is used as one type of medicinal practice these days....

In 2008, Martin Sieff, in a review of the book Chaplin: A Life,   wrote:  "Chaplin was not just 'big', he was gigantic. In 1915, he burst onto a war-torn world bringing it the gift of comedy, laughter and relief while it was tearing itself apart through World War I. Over the next 25 years, through the Great Depression and the rise of Adolf Hitler, he stayed on the job. ... It is doubtful any individual has ever given more entertainment, pleasure and relief to so many human beings when they needed it the most".

The best of the lot
14). A plain computer illiterate guy rings tech support to report that his computer is faulty.
Tech: What's the problem?
User: There is smoke coming out of the power supply.
Tech: (keep quite)
Tech: You'll need a new power supply.
User: No, I don't! I just need to change the startup files.
Tech: Sir, the power supply is faulty. You'll need to replace it.
User: No way! Someone told me that I just needed to change the startup and it will fix the
problem! All I need is for you to tell me the command.
Tech support::
10 minutes later, the User is still adamant that he is right. The tech is frustrated and fed up.
Tech support:: (hush hush)
Tech: Sorry, Sir. We don't normally tell our customers this, but there is an undocumented DOS
command that will fix the problem.
User: I knew it!
Tech : Just add the line LOAD NOSMOKE.COM at the end of the CONFIG.SYS. Let me know how it goes.
10 minutes later.
User : It didn't work. The power supply is still smoking.
Tech : Well, what version of DOS are you using?
User : MS-DOS 6.22.
Tech : That's your problem there. That version of DOS didn't come with NOSMOKE. Contact Microsoft and ask them for a patch that will give you the file. Let me know how it goes.
1 hour later.
User : I need a new power supply.
Tech support : How did you come to that conclusion?
Tech support : (hush hush)
User : Well, I rang Microsoft and told him about what you said, and he started asking questions about the make of power supply.
Tech: Then what did he say?
User: He told me that my power supply isn't compatible with NOSMOKE.
