CAT Result 2011 - Exam Results: Countdown Begins!!

All new IIMs, IIM Lucknow and Kozhikode has felt the need of rebalancing the gender scales
The results of Common Admission Test (CAT) 2011 will be out tomorrow, January 11. Last year, the result came around January 11 midnight, so it might come today midnight. However, catiim.in has not declared exact time of the result.

The total number of candidates appearing for CAT dropped this year to around 1.85 lakh compared to 2.04 lakh last year—New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune saw maximum number of students registering.

Akin to previous years, this year too male students formed the majority with about 70% of those who took CAT.

The pattern of CAT changed this year. The test had two sections instead of three, each section allotted 70 minutes time. For the very first time CAT had sectional countdown timer and students were not allowed to switch between the sections.

Not just has the CAT pattern changed, but overall criteria for shortlisting candidates have also changed over the years. B-School now gives more importance to work experience, academic background and diversity of profiles. This year, gender diversity is also on the cards.
