iBerry India to launch Auxus AX01 tablet for Rs.5,990

The first week of July will see iBerry India, the Indian arm of Hong Kong-based electronics manufacturer, iBerry, launching their third Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich-based tablet, Auxus AX01, for just Rs.5,990.

For a tablet at such a sweet price point, the Auxus AX01 boasts of decent, if not exemplary, features. Running on a 1 GHz ARM Cortex A8 CPU, the seven-inch tablet comes with a dedicated dual Mali-400 graphics engine with support for OpenGL 2.0. It sports a capacitive touchscreen with a maximum resolution of 800 x 400 pixels, and has 1 GB of DDR3 RAM. On the storage front, the Auxus Ax01 comes with onboard storage capacity of 4GB, which can be expanded to 32 GB through the MicroSD card slot. The tablet also features a mini-HDMI output capable of handling full HD 1080p video playback. It is Wi-Fi-enabled (b/g standards), supports 3G through USB dongles and has a front-facing camera.

According to a report by IBN Live, the tablet “will be available through the online retail network and retail sale partners of iBerry in various cities across India. The tablet comes with a one-year comprehensive warranty which will be handled by company's service network throughout India”.

Although it only lacks in terms of 3G connectivity and low disk space, the Auxus AX01 sports hardware that’s very similar to iBerry’s recently announced budget tablet, the Auxus AX03G. Also powered by a 1.0 GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor with a Dual Mali-400 OpenGL 2.0 GPU and a dedicated Full HD Video processing VPU, the Auxus AX03G runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It has 1 GB of RAM and an internal 8 GB NAND Flash for storage. The display here is again similar with a seven-inch capacitive multitouch screen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Connectivity options include an in-built SIM slot, GSM (2G/3G) 900/1800/2100MHz with Phone Function, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth. The tablet comes with mini HDMI v1.3 and supports full HD 1080p videos. There’s a 2MP camera at the back and a front 0.3 mp camera for video calling, unlike the AX01 which only comes with a front camera. The Auxus AX03G will sell for Rs.9,990 and is expected to be launched sometime in July.

Other tablets launched by iBerry in India include the Auxus AX02, which also runs on Ice Cream Sandwich. The company’s first tablet to hit Indian shores was the BT07i which initially ran on Gingerbread. However, the company soon launched an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich for the tablet.(via Tech2)
